Boy Struck By Car Downtown

No summons was issued in accident involving 14-year-old boy.

A 14-year-old boy from Maplewood was hit by a car at taken to Morristown Medical Center by ambulance on Friday afternoon, according to Millburn police.

According to witnesses, the boy darted out into traffic when the car had a green light at Main Street and Millburn Avenue in front of Starbucks.

The boy was crossing Main Street in the direction of the Starbucks and there was a car in the lefthand turn lane, obscurring him from view from the driver who hit him, said Millburn Police Lt. Bernie Neuhaus.

The boy was struck by a woman driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla and no summons was issued.

Neither the boy’s name nor his condition was released.
