Location Changes For Millburn-Short Hills' FAME Festival

MILLBURN, NJ — FAME, a new community festival sponsored by Explore Millburn-Short Hills, will feature fitness, art, music and entertainment in the town's Special Improvement District on May 8. Due to the chance of rain, some locations have changed.

Visit exploremillburnshorthills.org/fame for all of the details — including participating merchant specials and giveaways — and check out Explore's Instagram and Facebook pages for further updates.

The festival was organized by Explore Millburn-Short Hills, a new non-profit organization established to support and promote the businesses throughout the Special Improvement District. The group is encouraging residents to attend the festival and then enjoy the restaurants and stores in all five business districts.

The day begins in Taylor Park by the Bauer Community Center with a variety of free outdoor fitness events.

Kika Stretch Studios and Bhakti Barn Yoga will each hold a 9 a.m. class followed by Short Hills Club Pilates at 10 a.m., and Pure Barre at 11 a.m. Please bring a mat or towel and water bottle. Registration is not necessary, but social distancing will be required.

Then, perfect for Mother’s Day gifting, young artists can create their own canvas under the guidance of ArteVino Studio staff. There will be three hour-long class sessions beginning at 11 a.m. and space is limited. Registration and payment through ArteVino required. There is a discount code, 2021MOTHERSDAY, for the first 10 people registered. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Between noon and 2 p.m., you can visit the Community Zone to learn more about the new nonprofit, Explore Millburn-Short Hills. If you are a nonprofit that would like to be added to the Community Zone, contact Marla Itzkin of the group, at marketing@exploremillburnshorthills.org.

Entertainment and music

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., two family-friendly entertainers, Krazy Kevin and Jazzana, will separately roam throughout the downtown, giving free performances for the enjoyment of shoppers and diners alike.

Free live music is planned beginning at 4 to 5:30 p.m. with Big Romance at the corner of Main Street and Millburn Avenue, followed by Poet Section from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. in parking lot #1 (corner of Main Street and Essex Street).

Midnight Sun will close the evening performing 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Main Street by Millburn Avenue.

Explore Millburn-Short Hills will have an information table in Taylor Park with up-to-date information on the day’s event as well as giveaways and prizes for event participants. Participating retail merchants, restaurants and other eateries throughout the five business areas of Millburn/Short Hills will have specials and promotions for the day.

Should the event be rescheduled completely due to inclement weather, FAME will take place the following Saturday, May 15.

About the new group

Explore Millburn-Short Hills is the non-profit organization supporting and promoting businesses throughout the five areas of the Special Improvement District. The purpose of a Special Improvement District (SID) is to promote, grow and support local businesses, property owners, residents and visitors. Millburn Township's SID ordinance designated a District Management Corporation (DMC), known as Explore Millburn-Short Hills. The mission is to encourage the economic, cultural and social vitality of Millburn Township through increased marketing and visibility, improved and renewed infrastructure and local business development and engagement.
