Greenwood Gardens In Short Hills To Offer Reduced Admission On Saturday

Get outside for one last time before the autumn weather kicks in at Greenwood Gardens' upcoming, family-friendly event.

If you’ve been meaning to get outside one last time before the autumn weather kicks in, here’s your chance.

As part of the Garden Conservancy’s Open Day program, Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills will be offering reduced price admission for the general public and free admission for members.

The family-friendly event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, and will feature refreshments on the East Terrace with a view of the 2,150 acre South Mountain Reservation.

Reduced price admission on the Garden Conservancy Open Day is $7 for the general public and free for Greenwood Gardens members.

Gardens parking is limited but guests can park on local streets and walk in, according to a release.

At the garden’s Main House from 2 to 3 p.m., award-winning educator and plant expert Robert Lyons will present his illustrated lecture, “Outstanding Herbaceous Plants for Long Lasting Color in the Garden.”

Registration is required but is free with admission to Greenwood Gardens.

According to a release, Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills is comprised of twenty-eight acres of gardens, meadows, and woodland, with eleven historic buildings constructed between 1912 and 1950. The board of trustees and staff are dedicated to preserving the history and enhancing the beauty of the property for the benefit of the public. Situated between the 2150-acre South Mountain Reservation and the 53-acre Old Short Hills Park, Greenwood Gardens is endorsed by The Garden Conservancy as a Preservation Project Garden.

The Gardens are open to the public Saturday through Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through November 8.
