MILLBURN — The Millburn Police reported that on Monday, Dec. 30, someone made off with a handbag worth $4,700 from the Dior store at the Short Hills Mall. When Police Officer Lipke responded, personnel told him the alleged shoplifter was a woman with long hair who wore a black hat, dark coat, white scarf, and pink/black sneakers, according to police.

Store workers told police that the woman concealed the item in a shopping bag and left the store without making payment. The incident is under investigation.

The day before, Police Officer Nacim responded to a Neiman Marcus store near the mall, on the report of a theft. In this case, two females concealed two handbags valued at $8,400 total, police said. According to the report, the two handbags were concealed "in a handbag" (presumably bigger).
