A sure sign of fall -- besides school, leaves falling, and shorter days -- is the return of Mallomars to store shelves.
The seasonal treats, marshmallow, graham, and chocolate cookies, are eagerly anticipated by locals. Good news; they're here. Mallomars are on the shelves at CVS, Rite Aid, ShopRite and PathMark.
Their dedicated fans plan to shop, enjoy, and stockpile. Lauren G., who declined to give her last name as she shopped at CVS, explained. "I buy and freeze for the whole year, though I'm not sure I want to admit this. I just finished my last pack in August."

Avid couponer Lillian Gore said Mallomars are one of the few exceptions to her buying rule. "Full price, half price, I'll pay whatever," she said. "To me, they're priceless."
