The Millburn Chorale will perform a set of choral classics. Included the comic French madrigals “Il est bel et bon” and the colorful English madrigal “Fyer, Fyer!” by Thomas Morley as well as one of Palestrina’s most well known motet for 4 voices, “Sicut Cervus.” Within the set, the ladies and the gentlemen of the Millburn Chorale will perform Schubert’s “In Meinem Garten” featuring sophomore Christopher Li on piano and R. The Symphony Orchestra will open their part of the program with Toccata by Frescobaldi. The string section will be featured using many interesting techniques in a March from "Music for Children" by Prokofieff and the Orchestra will end with Ponchielli's famous Dance of the Hours from "La Gioconda".
The Miller Chorus will perform music by Johannes Brahms, Anotnio Estevez, Neil Ginsberg and Thomas Weelkes. The chorus tackles lush harmonies in Brahm’s “Waldesnacht,” the imitation of the Venezuelan guitar in Estevez’s “Mata del Anima Sola” featuring sophomore Charlie Ehrenfried as soloist and the rhythmic intricacies of the English madrigal in Weelkes’ “Hark! All Ye Lovely Saints Above.” The set will open with a toe taping arrangement of the American folk song “Old Dan Tucker” again featuring sophomore Christopher Li on piano.
The Chorus and Orchestra will combine forces to present the holiday favorite “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson. The Choruses are directed by Mr. Rodrigo Vega, and the Orchestras are under the direction of Mrs. Karen Conrad. The concert is free and open to the public.
