MHS Students Get Respect at Drew University
Drew University selects three MHS students as finalists in its "Arts of Respect" competition.

Three Millburn High School juniors were selected as “Arts of Respect” finalists and will go on to compete in the finals at Drew University on Thursday.
This Drew University art competition is designed to promote respect among all people, and this is the first time that Millburn High School students were invited to participate in the contest, alongside Drew University students.
The MHS “Arts of Respect” finalists are, Fiona Murphy, Michael Yuan, and Arlynn Baer. Murphy created a collage, Yuan created a painting and Baer created a hybrid of a raised painting/sculpture. All conveyed a theme of respect in a diverse world. A panel of MHS faculty judges selected the three finalists based on the quality of their artwork and the message conveyed.

“Congratulations to the three 'Arts of Respect' finalists,” said Ryan Siegel, who worked with Drew University and the Millburn High School Art Department to introduce the competition to MHS. “Best of luck to each of the finalists in the next level of the competition.”
The finals event will take place at Drew University at 7 PM, in Craig Chapel, Seminary Hall on Thursday, March 29. The public is invited to attend and admission is free. The finalists’ artwork, will be on display at the Drew University Library though April 2.

“Arts of Respect” is a program of the Center on Religion Culture and Conflict at Drew University. The competition is sponsored by 13 departments and campus organizations including Hillel; Kuumba, the African American student organization; Students for Action in Darfur; InterVarsity Christian Fellowship; and the Middle East Student Association.
