Millburn Mayor Gives Update On Power Outages
JCP&L has given estimates of when power will be restored to Millburn residents following Tropical Storm Isaias. Still, many are frustrated.

MILLBURN, NJ — While Tropical Storm Isaias veered west and spared North Jersey the worst of its wrath, it still downed trees and wires and left 1.3 million state residents without power.
Millburn Mayor Jackie Lieberberg expressed frustration with the electric utility Friday night, and she's not the only one. One Wayne family created a giant yard sign to troll the company.
Lieberberg released this information Friday night:

We have been consistently pressing JCP&L for street-specific restoration information and more accurate data on when we can expect our power back across Millburn Township, but this has not been communicated to us. We unfortunately cannot tell what individual streets and neighborhoods are included in the numbers provided by JCP&L.

We continue to express our displeasure and frustration to JCP&L that other municipalities are receiving street-by-street information while we are not being given the same. My frustration grows along with yours until there will be restoration to all residents. We will continue our consistent efforts to push JCP&L for more specific information. We will share it with our residents as we receive it.
Here is the most recent information that has been shared with us from JCP&L:
ESTIMATED RESTORED PER DAY FOR MILLBURN TOWNSHIP
- August 6: 240
- August 7: 788
- August 8: 668
- August 9: 382
- August 10: 238
- August 11: 71
The restoration process is JCP&L’s responsibility. Our concern continues to be the safety of our residents and the communication of necessary information that will allow our residents to plan and prepare as restoration efforts continue.
For those who remain without power, we will be operating a temporary charging station for RESIDENTS ONLY to power up devices this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Millburn Fire Station #2, located at 315 White Oak Ridge Road. Please be advised that our Library and Bauer Center charging stations will not be operational this weekend. Please remember to bring your own chargers and to limit time spent charging to allow maximum use of the stations for all residents.
A reminder that debris pickup will begin in Zone 1 on Monday. For additional information please visit the Township’s website. https://twp.millburn.nj.us/debrisremoval
Especially now, be kind to your neighbors. We have seen stories of residents offering a charge on their porch, a cold drink and other acts of kindness as we deal with the added burden of power loss in an already difficult time. We must remain strong as a community and continue to do all that is necessary to persevere through everything that is thrown our way. #MillburnStrong. Thank you.
