MILLBURN, NJ — A townwide "plastic film recycling challenge" kicked off in Millburn Township on March 15, in which resident help the environment by turning in recyclables like plastic bags and bubble wrap. But the township wants you to know that the bins were recently moved.

If residents turn in 500 pounds of certain types of recyclables by Sept. 15, the vendor Trex will turn the recycled plastic film into a bench for the community.

Recycling plastic film items — thin items such as plastic bags, newspaper films, bubble wrap, and sandwich bags — helps keep harmful waste out of landfills. The program will end on September 15, 2021.

This program is being organized by resident and Millburn High School student Julia Nieman, in partnership with Trex.

Note that the plastic-film collection bins previously located at Town Hall, the Millburn Library, Millburn High School, and Kings supermarket were relocated over the weekend to the Town Yard, within the salt dome.
