Two Essex County Men Nabbed in Crash of Stolen BMW
Millburn police nab suspects after high speed chase and crash into civilian car

Millburn Police said they arrested two men who took authorities on a high speed chase from Livingston in a stolen BMW this morning before side swiping a vehicle at a red light on South Orange Avenue, and then taking off on foot.
The suspects, Troy Turner, 34, of Newark, and Umar Yasin, 26, of East Orange, were charged with possession of stolen property after police they took police on a high speed chase from Livingston into Millburn this morning, Millburn Police Sgt. Mike Azzopardi, said.
Livingston police originally responded to a report of a vehicle break-in at 8:04 a.m. on Ross Road near Lockhern Drive, according to Det. Greg Drucks. Police said the Silver BMW was a loaner car from a local dealership in Bloomfield and had been reported stolen in West Orange. It was not immediately known whether the two suspects had possession of the car this entire time or whether they tried to get into the car later.

The suspects took off on White Oak Ridge Road where Millburn police picked up the pursuit down South Orange Avenue, police said. The silver BMW continued on until it sideswiped a civilian car on South Orange Avenue near Brookside Drive and jumped onto the curb. The suspects then exited the vehicle and fled before police arrested them.
One of two people waiting in the car at the stop light were taken to St. Barnabas Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.

The suspects then took off on foot and were apprehended after a brief chase. Police said that bail had been set, but did not have an exact amount, and the men were being transported to Essex County Jail.
