Millburn Police Stop Man Near Mall, Charge Him With Resisting

MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn police say they pulled over a vehicle near the Short Hills Mall on Dec. 14 and ended up charging a Bronx man with resisting arrest.

Police say that Officers Dundon and Nacim stopped a 1994 Chrysler Cirrus on JFK Parkway near the mall for an apparent registration violation. While conducting the investigation, Breanden Inkumsah, 32, of the Bronx, was placed under arrest for obstruction, police say.

Police allege that Inkumsah resisted arrest and assaulted the officers as they were attempting to take him into custody. Inkumsah was charged with obstruction, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest and remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility, police say.

Here are other recent police incidents in Millburn, according to the police:

Dec. 10: At approximately 6:20 p.m., Police Detective Royce attempted to stop a 2007 Infinity G35 for "suspicious activity and motor vehicle violations," police say. The vehicle sped off at a high rate on Route 24 East, police say, where it crashed in the center median near Hobart Gap Road. No injuries were sustained. Police say the operator of the vehicle, Shakur Hill, 23, of West Orange was placed under arrest for eluding police, endangering others, and motor vehicle violations. Hill was subsequently issued summonses and later released, police said.

Dec. 16: Millburn Police Detective Royce stopped a 2018 Land Rover at the Short Hills Mall that was reported stolen. The operator, Rex Agumey, 49, of New Castle, Del., was placed under arrest, charged with receiving stolen property, and later released. This incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau, police say.

Dec. 17: Millburn Police Detective Royce stopped a 2019 BMW 530 for tinted windows, police say. The investigation led to the arrest of Xavier Reid, 30, of Union, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and related paraphernalia, police said. Reid was subsequently issued summonses and later released. A followup investigation conducted by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau resulted in the discovery of an unregistered semiautomatic handgun in the vehicle and additional weapons and fraud charges, police say.

On Dec. 21, Millburn Police Officers Herrera and Dundon stopped a 2006 BMW M6 for tinted windows on JFK parkway near Parsonage Hill Road, police said. The investigation led to the discovery of an unregistered semiautomatic handgun in the vehicle, police say.

Police say that Kamil Jackson, 25, of Verona, Daesean McDuffie, 28, of Irvington, and Darieus Dodson, 22, of Newark, were arrested and charged with weapons offenses, possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana), distribution of CDS, and related paraphernalia. The suspects were remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law.
