"In anticipation of this week’s storm that is in the forecast to begin tomorrow afternoon, I want to share the schedule for the rest of this week and next week. We will need to plan for virtual days of instruction Wednesday and Friday, with a Snow Day (District Closed) on Thursday. Teachers have sent students home with supplies, materials and devices.

"In addition, in light of the weather, upcoming holiday travel plans, and the rise in numbers of COVID-19 cases in our community and surrounding areas, school will remain virtual for two additional days next week. Here are the details for the schedules. Please note that if there are any changes to our current planned schedules due to weather conditions or Covid-19 impact, we will let you know as far in advance as possible."

Heavy snow is expected Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. The forecast as of Tuesday for the Garden State was for more than a foot of snow.

Two superintendents in New Jersey said Monday that they feel that kids deserve the magic of a traditional Snow Day off after a tough year:

  • Mahwah's superintendent said the days are for "memory making" and not remote learning.
  • In Cinnaminson, the superintendent said, "Far too many chances for them to play and 'just be a kid' have been taken from them over the last nine months. It will be nice to see them enjoy one of the true gifts of childhood."
