NJ Nor'easter Updates: Snow Totals, Crashes, School Closings

Nearly 6 inches of snow fell in some areas, dozens of school districts closed or delayed openings, wires fell down and there have been some crashes Tuesday as New Jersey dealt with its third nor'easter in 10 days (see road conditions below).

Wires were reportedly down in Somerset County. Drivers were told to avoid Washington Valley Road in Bridgewater at the intersection with Brown Road because a wire, police announced. Read more here...

In Lakewood, a school bus and car collided, sending the bus into a tree at about 8:30 a.m. The Ocean County Sheriff's Department had issued a warning about ice-slickened roads. There were no injuries. Read more here.

Winds are expected to get stronger in the early afternoon, perhaps reaching 45 mph in North Jersey and the Jersey Shore.

As of 7 a.m., Newark Airport was reporting 72 flight cancellations primarily because of the inclement weather to the north. "The ongoing weather event could continue to cause disruptions throughout the morning. Please check with your airline for flight status," the airport said in a tweet.

Scattered power outages were reported, with nearly 200 in Morris County, but many of those could be leftover from the damage left by two nor'easters that hit New Jersey over the past two weeks.

Flooding was also reported in Ocean City. Here was the scene at 30th and Haven at 7:30 a.m.:

The heaviest snow was taking place in Monmouth and Ocean counties, where possible coastal flooding in the Manasquan Inlet and elsewhere was a concern. Jersey Shore residents were told to watch for the 7:30 p.m. high tide.

• I-78: Overturned Truck on I-78 local lanes westbound ramp from northbound Exit 58 - US 1&9/E. Port St in Newark. Ramp closed and detoured.
• Garden State Parkway: Accident on the Garden State Parkway local lanes northbound North of Exit 105 - NJ 36 in Tinton Falls. Right lane blocked.
• Goethals Bridge: Speed restriction on the Goethals Bridge in both directions from New Jersey side in Elizabeth to New York side in Staten Island of 30 miles per hour due to long term construction.
• Outerbridge Crossing: Speed restriction on the Outerbridge Crossing in both directions between New Jersey side in Perth Amboy and New York side in Staten Island; 30 miles per hour due to weather.
• Garden State Parkway: Road treatment in progress and a speed restriction on the Garden State Parkway in both directions from north of Exit 30 - NJ 52/Laurel Drive in Somers Point to south of Montvale Service Area in Montvale; 45 miles per hour, for full salting operation.
• New Jersey Turnpike: Speed restriction on the New Jersey Turnpike in both directions from Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pennsville Twp to George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee 45 miles per hour salting operations.
• New Jersey Turnpike - Pennsylvania Ext.: Speed restriction on the New Jersey Turnpike - Pennsylvania Ext. in both directions Delaware River Bridge in Burlington Twp; 45 miles per hour salting operations.
• New Jersey Turnpike - Hudson County Extension: Speed restriction on the New Jersey Turnpike - Hudson County Extension in both directions from Interchange 14 - I-78 in Newark to Jersey Ave/Holland Tunnel in Jersey City; 45 miles per hour salting operations.
• NJ 17: Accident on NJ 17 southbound north of US 46 in Hasbrouck Heights. Right lane closed 5-10 minute delay, use caution.
• I-80: Accident and a fuel spill on I-80 westbound West of Exit 12 - CR 521/Hope-Blairstown Rd in Hope Twp. Right and center lanes closed; 5-10 minute delay, use caution.
• Garden State Parkway: Speed restriction on the Garden State Parkway in both directions from Driscoll Bridge in Sayreville to Exit 127 - US 9/I-287/NJ 440 in Woodbridge Twp; 35 miles per hour due to roadway conditions.
• Lincoln Tunnel: Delays at the Lincoln Tunnel westbound from New York in Manhattan. The travel time is 20 minutes from the New York side to New Jersey Turnpike Exit 16E.
• NJ 495: Delays on NJ 495 in both directions from New Jersey Turnpike in Secaucus to Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken Twp due to weather and volume.
• NJ 208: Delays on NJ 208 southbound between Grandview Av in Wyckoff and Fair Lawn Av in Fair Lawn delays due to volume.
