PHOTOS: Runners Stepped Up For Red Cross

Red Cross 5K sees record turnout.

Sunday was a perfect day for the Sixth Annual Millburn-Short Hills Red Cross 5K Run/Walk, which featured 300 runners of all ages. Community participation was at an all-time high this year, with many of the older kids running the full course with their parents. With the beautiful weather conditions, the runners seemed appreciative of the scenic route along Brookside Drive through the South Mountain Reservation.

Because of all the work by the American Red Cross with its warming station after the , residents volunteered their time and effort to help with this fundraiser for the Red Cross Millburn-Short Hills Chapter.

The overall first place went to John Hogan in the Men’s with his time of 17:38.91 and in the Women’s to Lisa Barnett with her time of 20:47.72. The second and third places went respectively to Joseph Martinelli (18:26.82) and Boris Gavilanes (18:43.24), with Patricia Butcher (21:46.41) and Kate Warren (21:48.93) in the Women’s category.
