SH Association Urges Residents to Fight Livingston Project

Project on Tutor Time property will be heard in Livingston on Tuesdays; Association urges residents to attend meeting.

The Short Hills Association is urging residents of Millburn to attend Tuesday’s Livingston Planning Board Meeting, where TMB Partners is seeking approval of a an afforfable apartment project on the site currently occupied by Tutor Time on South Orange Avenue.  

The association sent out a “community alert” this weekend, urging residents to let Livingston know that Millburn "stands strong and united in the preservation of our community and way of life,” said James LaDue of Short Hills. “We must have a significant presence at this meeting to have an impact.”

In the notice, members of the Short Hills Association board were quoted as saying, “In addition, Livingston has neither been a good neighbor nor a good advocate for affordable housing."

TMB Partners proposes to build a 65-foot-tall project of 62 units with underground parking within 40 feet of the property lines of single-family residential neighborhoods of Millburn Township. The tax revenue for the project will benefit Livingston, but according to the association, the environmental impact will adversely affect Short Hills and Millburn Township overall.
The Association board members said in the group’s community alert, ”It is up to us as a community to fight back,” according Short Hills Association board.

Meanwhile TMB Properties has sued the Township of Millburn to get the Township to sign off and provide sewer sytems on the property.

Livingston Planning Board meets on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Livingston Town Hall on 357 South Livingston Avenue.
