Short Hills Train Station Installs New Flex Posts

The reflective poles will decrease crossing distance to Chatham Road, officials said.

MILLBURN, NJ - Reflective flex posts have been added on Chatham Road to reduce crossing distance for pedestrians.

Installed at the end of January, officials said the posts are at the mid-block crossing between the Short Hills Train Station and Lot 3.

The Department of Public Works, in conjunction with the Engineering Department and Police Department, oversaw installation of the flex posts.

Officials said this is a temporary installation until larger scale improvements can be made at the crossing. Potential improvements include lighting and curb work to improve pedestrian safety and achieve traffic calming in the area.

The changes come the same month that 76-year-oldLynne Crow's body was discovered in the roadway near Chatham and Woodlawn Roads. When Crow was transported to the Morristown Medical Center, the treating physician informed police that it appeared she had sustained injuries consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle, officials said.
