The Township of Millburn is tracking and preparing for potential impacts of this storm. DPW has begun snow preparations.

Winter Storm Tracking & Information: Jan. 31 - Feb. 2
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area beginning 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31 and lasting through 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2. Significant snowfall is expected, with accumulations projected between 14 and 18 inches and wind gusts as high as 45 mph.
The Township of Millburn is tracking and preparing for potential impacts of this storm. DPW has begun snow preparations. JCP&L has shared with us that they are prepared to activate their storm response and incident command system plans in case of storm-related outages.

In the event a major winter storm event reaches our area, please:
- Stay off the road unless absolutely necessary. If you must travel, keep a flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.
- Charge all devices and have spare batteries and flashlights in case of power outages.
- Gather extra blankets or a sleeping bag for each person. Never use gas stoves, kerosene heaters or other open-flame heat sources to keep warm.
- Do not park cars on Township roadways to ensure swift and compete road clearing.
- Help your neighbors who are unable to shovel their driveways and sidewalks.
Cancellations and Closures
Trash and recycling pick up has been suspended for Monday, February 1. Zone 1 recycling collection will resume on Monday, February 8. Trash collection for Zones 1 and 4 will resume on Thursday, February 4. We will monitor road conditions tomorrow and provide an update in the evening regarding collections for Tuesday.

Essex County has rescheduled all vaccination appointments from Monday, February 1 to Sunday, January 31. All appointment times and locations remain the same. If you had an appointment scheduled for February 1, please check your e-mail for additional information from the County.

Residents are reminded to report any storm-related outages directly to their utility companies at the below phone numbers.

Downed trees and wires may be reported via the non-emergency PD line at 973-564-7001. We remind residents to NOT call 9-1-1 for power outages and/or to inquire about service restoration. Reserve 9-1-1 calls for true emergencies only.
JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris. Treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.
