Train Service Restored After Millburn Fatality (UPDATE)

Morris & Essex and Gladstone Branch still subject to 60 minute delays, officials said.

MILLBURN, NJ - A trespasser was struck and killed on the tracks at the Millburn Train Station caused the suspension of service on the Morris & Essex Line and Gladstone Branch rail lines Friday morning, according to officials. Service was restored early in the afternoon, but the lines remain subject to 60 minute delays.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. eastbound Morris & Essex Line train #6610, which departed Dover at 5:54 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 7:17 a.m., struck and fatally injured an adult male trespasser just east of Millburn station, officials said. No injuries were reported to the approximately 700 customers or the crew on board.

NJ Transit rail tickets and passes are being cross honored by NJ Transit bus and private carriers on the Morris & Essex and Gladstone Branch rail lines, officials said.
