Water Main Break Shuts Down Mall At Short Hills (Updated)

MILLBURN, NJ - A water main break underneath the Mall at Short Hills closed down the facility Monday, according to officials.

Patrons were evacuated from the mall shortly before noon, but officials said the closure was temporary and that the water line that ruptured fed the sprinkler system.

"There has been a water main break at The Mall at Short Hills. Out of an abundance of caution, and to safely assess the situation, power has been shut off and customers have been evacuated. When the mall is ready to reopen, we will alert the community via our web page and social media," officials said in a statement.

Officials said they anticipate opening for regular business hours Tuesday.
