“Plum is an everyday neighborhood eatery offering a multi-layered American menu. We aim to redefine the way restaurant food is viewed by preparing everything in house daily and using the best ingredients that are made available at the various markets we procure. Things were built smaller in 1917 when this historic street car diner was placed in its one and only location at 14 Park Street in Montclair. It’s small foot print requires us to buy less more often which translates to even fresher dishes. This allows us to create more market driven specials and keeps our menus seasonal.”
Mundo Vegan, 20 Church Street
According to the restaurant’s website:
“As residents of Montclair for over 20 years, our love for the community and animals is the reason we opened our first restaurant in the heart of Montclair Center, Church Street. As first-time small business owners and ethical vegans, our commitment to our guests, staff and animals is what drives us to do what we do every day. Mundo Vegan believes in wholesome, organic, non-GMO, vegan food. We have created a vegan world for you here at 20 Church Street Montclair, as our name translates to Vegan World. Our food is a blend of healthy and comforting family favorites that we grew up enjoying – with a vegan twist. We are dedicated to organic, non-GMO, palm oil free, and gluten free (where indicated on menu). We believe that a delicious meal should be good for your heart and soul.”
The restaurant recently announced that it plans to close its physical location when its lease ends in early 2020, but it will continue to provide food for the community under the Mundo Vegan name.

Gelati Montclair by Mike, 571 Bloomfield Avenue
According to the restaurant’s website:
“Our story begins in Paterson, NJ. Chef Mike Guerriero grew up in the rough Riverside and Alabama project sections of Paterson. To stay out of trouble, he worked in the kitchen with his grandmother preparing her secret recipes that the entire family would fight over every Sunday. At 14, Mike went to work at Gelotti, a famous ice cream shop in the heart of Paterson, working his way up from dishwasher to the gelato chef he is today. In 2014, Mike and his wife, Bre, took over Gelotti Caldwell and helped resurrect it after its closing. In 2016, on his 25th birthday, Mike and Bre opened Gelotti Montclair.”
