Yogi Berra, the great baseball catcher who appeared in the World Series more often than any player in history and endeared himself to sports fans and non-sports fans alike with his humble ways and quirky sayings, died Tuesday at his home in New Jersey. He was 90.
Mr. Berra played for 10 Yankee championship teams, led them to the World Series as manager and later jumped to the Mets to lead them to the championship series. But he was nevertheless at least as known for his ”Yogi-isms,” described by the New York Times as “unwittingly witty epigrams.”
