All Clear After Unfounded Report Of Shooting In Montclair: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police responded to an “unfounded” report of an active shooter on Christmas Eve, declaring the scene “all clear” shortly afterwards, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department:

“On December 24 at 12 p.m., Montclair Police responded to 425 Bloomfield Avenue on a third-party caller reporting an active shooter inside of the building. 425 Bloomfield Avenue is a commercial and residential building in the middle of the Central Business District and as a result, all vehicular and pedestrian traffic was diverted upon arrival of patrol units.”

“A rapid deployment team of first arriving officers was established and they immediately made entry into the building. The building was thoroughly searched and at 12:09, the scene was declared ‘all clear.’ No individuals were taken into custody. The caller was identified and after investigation it was determined that the report of an active shooter was unfounded.”
