Bad Weather In Montclair, Forecasters Say: Snow, School, Travel

Montclair is preparing for an early winter storm that's predicted to hit towns across New Jersey.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Bad weather may be on the way, forecasters say. And Montclair is among the towns preparing for an early winter storm that’s predicted to cause problems across New Jersey.

In some parts of the state, forecasters are calling for as much as a foot of snow on Monday and early Tuesday. The forecast for Montclair was more modest, with the National Weather Service predicting daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches and nighttime snow accumulation of an extra 2 to 4 inches.

All Montclair public schools and district offices were closed Monday, Dec. 2, due to the inclement weather. Before-school, after-school and evening activities were canceled, district administrators said.

The Montclair Recreation Department announced that all afternoon and evening activities were canceled for Monday, Dec. 2 due to the weather forecast and school closings.

The forecast also canceled the scheduled meeting of the Montclair Planning Board, which was set for Dec. 2. All matters scheduled for the evening's meeting have been carried to future meeting dates, officials said.

In addition, the township canceled evening shuttle bus service for Dec. 2.

“Please exercise caution while traveling during the winter weather,” local officials said.
