Catalytic Convertor Stolen From Parked Car In Montclair: Police
Yet another catalytic convertor theft has been reported in Essex County.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Another catalytic convertor theft has been reported in Essex County, authorities say.
Montclair police said a catalytic convertor was stolen from a parked vehicle on Label Street on Feb. 17. It’s just one of an ongoing string of such thefts that have taken place across the area in recent months.
On Feb. 17 in Nutley, officers were dispatched to River Road after receiving a report about a theft. The victim stated that when they turned their vehicle on, they heard a "loud noise." Upon checking, it was found that the catalytic converter had been removed from the vehicle, police said.

Earlier in February, Nutley police warned residents that catalytic converter thefts around the state have risen due to the high scrap value of the car parts.
Other recent catalytic converter thefts in Essex County have included a pair of incidents in Bloomfield reported in January.
