Cheers, Dancing In Montclair; Biden Projected As Election Winner

There was dancing in the streets of Montclair, and it was set to the music of a projected Election Day win for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — There was dancing in the streets of Montclair last weekend, and it was set to the music of a projected Election Day win for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Although President Donald Trump has disputed the unofficial results, the Associated Press and other news outlets have projected Biden as the winner of a historic election, which took place mostly via mail amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And in Montclair, the news inspired a wave of joy from many residents on Saturday.

Several dozen – possibly hundreds – of Montclair residents took their celebrations to the streets and sidewalks, especially the area near the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Church Street. Signs supporting Biden and Harris were hoisted in the air, getting honks of support from passing cars.

One local business, Guerriero Gelato, gave away free ice cream, TAP Into Montclair reported.
