Christmas Celebrations in Montclair

Join in the festivities by attending the tree lighting, going to see Santa Claus or writing letters to Mr. Claus with your children.

Tree Lighting

The annual Montclair tree lighting will be held on Friday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m., in Church Street Plaza. Come out to listen to music by the Montclair Community Band and enjoy an evening of fun winter entertainment in downtown Montclair. Please note that Church Street will be closed to car traffic starting at 5:00 p.m.

Santa Comes to Town

Santa will visit the Business Districts on a Montclair Fire Department fire truck and will distribute gifts for all children on Saturday, December 6.

  • 11:00 AM - South End Business District (Orange Rd. & Cedar Ave.)
  • 11:30 AM - Walnut Street Lot
  • 12:00 PM - Watchung Plaza
  • 12:30 PM - St. James Church (Bellevue Ave. & Valley Road)

The Montclair Community Band will play at each location, and Santa will also have candy for all children.

Santa’s Mailbox

Kids can mail a letter to Santa and will receive a personalized letter in return!

Letters may also be dropped off at the Montclair Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs. Please remember to include a return address so that children can receive a response. No letters will be accepted after Friday, December 12, 2014.
