Cops Seeking Graffiti, Vandalism Culprits

Police say most incidents involve juveniles.

 

Montclair Police are reporting yet another wave of graffiti and vandalism incidents including one that resulted in damage to the benches outside Montclair High School.

Montclair Police Det. Lt. Angel Roman said that most incidents seem to involve juveniles, adding that the number is "probably rising" because it's summer and school's out.

On Aug. 14, the owner of Image Dermatology on Park Street said that someone spraypainted the sign in front of the building.

Two days later, on Aug. 16, the owner of Gina's Bakery on Walnut Street reported blue paint all over a refrigerator located by the back door.

Also on Aug. 16, someone reported vandalism at Montclair High School involving damage to outside benches by skateboarders.

In another case involving skateboarders, police said that on Aug. 20 skateboarders damaged new sidewalks going in alongside a parking lot at 250 Valley Road.

Earlier this summer,  incidents involving everything from playgrounds to homes.
