Curbside Recycling To Restart In Montclair After COVID Suspension

Have those cans, bottles and other recycling been building up? Good news: there's a light at the end of the tunnel, Montclair officials say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Have those cans, bottles and other recycling been building up, Montclair? Good news, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, officials announced Thursday.

Curbside recycling collection is set to resume in Montclair on Monday, March 15. The township had temporarily stopped service due to a spate of coronavirus-related absences among its Department of Community Services (DCS) workers.

However, enough DCS employees have returned to work for the township to resume the normal curbside recycling collection schedule on March 15, officials said.

“The council and I thank our residents for their patience and understanding during the interruption of our recycling collection,” Mayor Sean Spiller said. “We are grateful that our employees are back in good health and can continue to provide this essential service to the community.”

Montclair had temporarily extended hours at the community services yard at 219 North Fullerton Avenue to help residents cope with the suspension. When curbside service resumes, those hours will change again, officials said.
