Essex County Photography Contest Returns
Entries must highlight the Essex County Parks System and need to be submitted by Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The annual Essex County Parks Photography Contest is underway.
Entries must highlight a visit to the historic Essex County Parks System. The free contest is open to the public and the deadline to submit entries is Wednesday, Sept. 17.
“Our annual photo competition is an opportunity for photographers of all ages to explore our gorgeous and beautiful parks system and share their experience through their photography. It’s a great way to display your artistic talents, have fun and enhance your appreciation of nature,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo said. “I look forward to seeing the photographs that are submitted because each one offers a unique perspective of our historic Parks System.”

The contest features categories for adults ages 18 and older and youth photographers ages 17 and younger. Color and black-and-white prints will be judged together. Each photograph must be taken within the boundaries of the Essex County Parks System during the current contest year and participants are allowed to submit no more than two entries. An entry form must be completed for each photograph and photographs must be submitted as an unframed, 8x10-inch print. A digital copy of the photograph must be provided if it was taken in a digital format.
Judging will be done by a group of professionals, with decisions based on creativity, technical superiority, composition, and the photograph’s depiction of the uniqueness of the Essex County Parks System.
