Segunda Quimbamba: The Music and Dance of Puerto Rico Bomba y Plena group Segunda Quimbamba performs an outdoor concert! Bomba y Plena's distinct rhythms reflect 300 years of Puerto Rico's African heritage. The rhythms are played on barrel-shaped "bomba" drums with a maraca and "cua" sticks. Founded by director Juan Cartagena and his wife Nanette Hernandez, Segunda Quimbamba Folkloric Center is an all-volunteer group of family and friends, offering a stellar example of this rich art-form. Ages 4 and up. Event will be held outdoors in front of the Montclair Library; auditorium if there is rain. In-House Registration begins Tuesday, June 22. Phone Registration begins Wednesday, June 23.
