Ex-Home Of Montclair Jazz Club Sold To Newark Developer: Report
There's a new future in store for the former site of Trumpets in Montclair, a report says.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — The former site of Trumpets, a now-shuttered jazz club in Montclair, has sold to a Newark-based developer for $1.2 million, a report says.
The Hanini Group plans to turn 6 Depot Square into a restaurant with outdoor dining and a separate café area. There are also plans to convert two apartments on the property to four, and bring back “historical features,” although the new owner declined to purchase Trumpet’s liquor license – a valuable commodity in town, Montclair Local reported.

Before it closed, Trumpets hosted world-renowned acts such as Wynton Marsalis, Gato Barbieri and Dave Valentin. The club – which formerly sat at 6 Depot Square near the corner of Walnut Street – was put on the market in 2019 for $3.6 million.
