An email sent out to MHS parents/caregivers just before 1 p.m. Thursday said the following:

"Montclair High school is experiencing problems with a faulty smoke detector which is being repaired. There is no danger, but the detector may cause the building to be evacuated repeatedly by generating  false alarms. The building must evacuate when an alarm sounds. The fire department is working with us to correct the problem. Again, there is no danger but we wanted to let you know in case your child contacts you."
