Fire At Montclair Apartment Building Causes Heavy Damage: MFD
Montclair firefighters put out a blaze at an apartment building, while their peers from the Oranges covered the town.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair firefighters put out a blaze at an apartment building on Friday, while their peers from West Orange, Orange and East Orange covered the township.
According to the Montclair Fire Department, firefighters got a call from a central station alarm company at 12:12 p.m., reporting a smoke detector activation at an apartment building on Claremont Avenue.
Arriving at the scene to find “heavy smoke,” firefighters entered the building, forcing open several apartment doors to locate the source of the blaze and search for occupants.

Firefighters soon located the flames, which were “quickly extinguished.” The resident in the apartment where the fire took place wasn’t home at the time, authorities said.
The apartment suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage. There was also “smoke damage” throughout the rest of the building, authorities said.

No injuries were reported, the fire department stated.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. No additional information was immediately available.
