'Fountains Of Wayne' NJ Songwriter Dies Of Coronavirus: Reports
The musician, who wrote the hit "Stacy's Mom" and grew up in NJ, died at 52 after suffering from coronavirus complications, reports said.

MONTCLAIR – Adam Schlesinger, the co-founder of the New Jersey rock band "Fountains of Wayne" who performed the 2003 hit “Stacy’s Mom," has died due to complications from the coronavirus, according to several reports.
Schlesinger, who was 52, died just a year after winning an Emmy for outstanding original music and lyrics for "Crazy Ex Girlfriend," according to The Associated Press.
Schlesinger, who grew up in Montclair and graduated from Montclair High School, had been ill and on a ventilator in an upstate New York hospital for the past week, according to NJ Advance Media and Rolling Stone.

Schlesinger co-founded Fountains of Wayne in 1995 and released five albums with the band, according to NJ Advance Media. He worked in television on “Sesame Street” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and wrote and produced for other bands, according to Rolling Stone.
He was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe in 1997 for writing for Tom Hanks film “That Thing You Do!” according to NJ Advance Media.
