Free COVID-19 Test Events In Montclair Set For Thanksgiving Week

One of the events has a time set aside for people with disabilities and seniors over 65, Montclair officials said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A series of free coronavirus testing events are taking place during Thanksgiving week in Montclair, officials recently announced.

According to a news release from Mayor Sean Spiller and the Township Council, several COVID-19 testing events have been scheduled for 2 to 7 p.m. at the Essex County Glenfield Park Wally Choice Community Center, 49 Maple Avenue.

Insurance is requested but not required. Participants are asked not to eat or drink 30 minutes before testing.

The first event took place on Nov. 23, with another event taking place on Nov. 24. Future events are scheduled for:

  • Monday, Nov. 30
  • Tuesday, Dec. 1
  • Monday, Dec. 7
  • Tuesday, Dec. 8

The Tuesday, Dec. 1 testing event at the Essex County Glenfield Park Wally Choice Community Center has added a special hour for people with disabilities and seniors over the age of 65, which will take place from 1 to 2 p.m.

An appointment will be required. Call 973-567-9067 to schedule an appointment.

“I once again thank Governor Phil Murphy’s staff for partnering with us to bring these much-needed pre- and post-holiday testing events to Montclair,” said Mayor Spiller. “We continue to encourage everyone to get tested and follow all health and safety protocols to help ensure the well-being of our community.”

As of Thursday, Montclair has seen 943 cumulative COVID-19 cases, with 57 deaths linked to the disease, according to municipal officials.
