It Stinks Being Stuck In A Yogurt Package, Montclair Skunk Learns

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A skunk in Montclair found itself in a sticky situation after getting its head trapped in a yogurt container earlier this week.
The skunk’s entire head was caught inside the plastic package when an animal control officer from the Montclair Township Animal Shelter arrived on the scene. Luckily, he was able to extract the skunk and allow it to mosey along without so much as a whiff of trouble, the shelter reported.
It was definitely a case of “all’s well that smells well” for the grateful skunk. But there’s also a valuable lesson for local homeowners, staff said.

“Folks, please remember to keep your garbage can lids closed securely to prevent critters from rummaging through to find an easy treat,” the shelter wrote on social media. “It would probably also be a good idea to rinse out your containers before putting them in the recycling bins so wildlife is not drawn to the smell of any residual food products.”
