Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Leave The House...

Paving project on Valley Road begins Wednesday.

Allow a little more time for your road trips starting Wednesday, August 18. That's when — weather permitting — Valley Road from Bloomfield Avenue to Mount Hebron Road will be milled and paved as part of the Essex County 2010 Roadway Resurfacing Program. The work is scheduled to continue until September 10.

The Township released a notice to all residents and businesses on Saturday morning saying the following:

"While the milling and paving is taking place, sections of Valley Road will be closed to non-emergency traffic. During the milling and paving operations, access to and from your driveway or street may be prohibited. If you need to enter/leave your home/business during this time (7:00 am to 5:00 pm), please make arrangements to park your vehicle at another location.

Note: Alvin Pl. to Lansing Pl. will be milled and paved at night (7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.). Milling is scheduled on or about Aug. 23-26, 2010, paving schedule will be announced as soon as it is determined."

The Township asks that everyone obey all detour signs and new traffic patterns and posted signs.
