Late Essex County Man Served With First Aid Squad For 60 Years

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A longtime Montclair resident who served with the West Essex First Aid Squad for more than 60 years passed away earlier this week.

William H. Groth, 84, died on March 4. Born in Stettin, Germany, Groth lived in Upper Montclair for 54 years. He was a tool and die maker for the Walter Kidde Corporation in Fairfield, according to his obituary.

Groth was a life member of the West Essex First Aid Squad, where he served for 60 years. He also served as chaplain for the 6th District New Jersey State First Aid Council for many years, his obituary states.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hildegard (nee Kurrle) Groth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Essex First Aid Squad, P. O. Box 662, West Caldwell, NJ 07007-0662.
