Menendez Opens Campaign Headquarters In Montclair
Essex County Democrats vow to fight for the middle class.

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez joined New Jersey, Essex County and Montclair Democrats for the grand opening of the Democrats’ Essex County headquarters in Montclair on Saturday.
“All you had to do was to see the two conventions to understand the difference in our parties, in our vision, in our principles, and in our commitment. We, in this election, have to reject the politics of failure and endorse the politics of progress, opportunity and jobs in our country. That’s what this choice is in this election,” Menendez said in a released statement to the press.

“In 2008, many of you came together with us to vote to change the guard," he added. "In 2012, we must now vote to guard the change we made in 2008."
To highlight the difference between the Democrats and Republicans, Menendez cited the "failed policies" that he believes drove the nation to the brink of an economic depression in September 2008. He also cited policies that cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans instead of the middle class and those struggling to enter the middle class, while allowing Wall Street firms to take huge risks that failed and added to the collective burden of American taxpayers.

In his remarks, Montclair Democratic Chairman and Essex County Freeholder Brendan Gill stressed the importance of teamwork in the upcoming election.
“Bob Menendez is running for so much more than re-election. He is running for the future of New Jersey’s middle class, which has never been under greater siege than it is right now,” Gill said.
Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo credited Menendez for his commitment to helping Essex County.
“For me, Essex County is always my number one priority and Senator Menendez has helped us by delivering the federal resources we’ve needed to improve the quality of life for all Essex County residents,” DiVincenzo said. “Looking forward to the elections in November, we have a very strong team and it takes a team to make things happen. Our strength here is Essex County is our diversity.”
Essex County Democratic Chairman Phil Thigpen said that the countywide organization was prepared to meet any and all campaign challenges in the weeks leading to Nov. 6.
“Democrats throughout Essex County are ready to help spread the word of what’s at stake in this year’s elections for the middle class, and those trying to ascend to the middle class,” Thigpen said.
