“Dear Parents and Caregivers:
I am writing to share information about a serious incident that took place last week. The administrative team received information about a student being under the influence of an illegal substance. After following the appropriate district and school protocols, we discovered that the student was in possession of drug paraphernalia and what was later identified by the Montclair Police department as heroin.
As with any incident that involves the well being of our students, we take this issue extremely seriously and we are working closely with the Montclair Police Department to ensure this situation is addressed thoroughly. The immediate reaction of our teachers and administration and the timely implementation of our procedures worked well in the situation. Because of the pending investigation, we are unable to disclose any details, but we are extremely confident in sharing that all the facts of the case show this to be an isolated incident.
As always, we encourage our community and families to speak openly and honestly about drug choices and personal issues we face and ask your help in continuing this dialog with your children.”
According to the Montclair Times, the arrest is assumed to be an “isolated incident.”
