Montclair Adds New Utility Charge To Fix ‘Aging Infrastructure’

Montclair residents will see a new quarterly charge on their water bill this July. Here's why.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair residents will see a new quarterly charge on their water bill in July, officials announced Tuesday.

“The new charges have been put in place to address the township’s aging water infrastructure and to continue maintaining the highest water purity standards to be in compliance with New Jersey Water Quality Accountability Act of 2017,” Montclair officials stated.

Effective July 1, all consumers receiving water service from the township will pay, in addition to any other applicable charges, an “infrastructure charge” as follows:
