Montclair Benefit, Campaign Will Help Animal Shelter Buy A Tub

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Animal lovers and jazz fans will combine forces in Montclair to help their local animal shelter purchase a much-needed bathtub for dogs and cats.

On Sunday, June 2, the Montclair Rotary Club and Trumpets Jazz Club and Restaurant will present “Jazz Bash by Jazz Cats,” a benefit to raise funds for the Montclair Township Animal Shelter.

According to a municipal news release, the funds will go towards the “Montclair Animal Shelter Bath Tub” campaign, which reads:

“Our best little friends badly need a permanent high-quality bathing tub at the Montclair Animal Shelter. The current tub is rusted out and leaking. Help purchase a permanent bathing tub to safely care for our little friends. Bathing is central to care. The Montclair Rotary Club will donate $500. We need to raise a total of $6,200 for the purchase of this permanent tub set up for: 1) Basic bathing especially when they enter the shelter from a condition of long-term neglect and filth. 2) Medicated baths for skin infections and allergies, flea infestations and insect bites. 3) Relief from symptomatic pain, itchiness and discomfort and to reduce the use of systemic antibiotics.”

“Our pets desperately need a professional grooming tub for basic bathing, especially when they enter the shelter from a condition of long-term neglect,” Shelter Director Liz Morgan said. “It will also allow for dedicated baths for skin ailments and infestations, and will enable us to reduce the use of systemic antibiotics.”

Jazz Bash by Jazz Cats will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., at Trumpets Jazz Club, 6 Depot Square (on the corner of Walnut Street). Entrance tickets are $20 plus a minimum purchase of $12 for food and drinks. Featured entertainers will include Trumpets’ artists Enrico Granafei, Kristine Massari, Yashmin Charnet-Abler and Lula Valdivia.
