Montclair Child Passes Away; Community Rallies Behind Family

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair’s Terry Lawrence Demming loved sports, children and his community. And that’s how the family of the deceased 7-year-old will remember him.

Following Demming’s passing on July 4, his family members launched an online fundraiser in lieu of flowers in an effort to create a foundation that will “support the things he loved most - sports, children and his community.” (See the fundraiser here)

As of Monday, the GoFundMe campaign raised more than $29,000 since going live on July 6.

Demming’s family said that they appreciate “all of the various acts of love and kindness expressed during this time.”

According to the family, services will take place at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5 High Street in Montclair. The first viewing is on Monday, July 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. The second viewing is Tuesday, July 10 at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow.
