Montclair Delegates Wowed By Christie's Speech
Honorary delegate Roland Straten issues his latest report from the Republican National Convention.
All I can say is WOW! What a time.
For someone who is not that political, it was extremely exciting to be right in the middle of things.
The New Jersey delegation was thrilled with Gov. Chris Christie's speech. I will not try to describe it since the major news media will be all over it. I will say that everyone here, including delegates from other states, have a new respect for New Jersey. Christie's line about the "need for respect first and love will come later" was really relevant to New Jersey.

Ann Romney also thrilled the entire audience. Her comments were more addressed to women and she brought out Mitt Romney's compassion, love, and abilities.
If you have not heard these two speeches, go to the Internet and listen. It may influence your thinking.

There were also a lot of other great speakers, who I am pretty sure got drowned out by the media types thinking that their opinions were more important than others. I will look at my notes and give you more info in the future. If you have time listen to them as well. Even the "minor" speakers were extremely good.
In closing, the basic theme which I assume everyone got was based on President Obama's statement that people didn't build their business. We heard from many business people who feel that they built their businesses.Â
And I have to agree. Government did not build [my business] Associated Fire Protection. My father, my son, and I built it with the government hurting much more than helping.Â
