Montclair High School Coach Captures USRowing Award

MONTCLAIR, NJ — “Strength, camaraderie and dedication.” These are three of the attributes that nabbed a Montclair High School crew coach a 2018 USRowing Fan’s Choice Award.

On Wednesday, USRowing announced that Jeremy Michalitsianos of Montclair High School was the winner of its “Junior Coach of the Year” award.

USRowing is a nonprofit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. This year, a record 42,153 votes were cast across the seven categories. (See the complete list of award winners here)

“We are so proud of our head coach!” Montclair High School Crew members declared on social media.

“A 10-year coach of the Montclair program, Michalitsianos has coached his crews to countless SRAA championships, a second undefeated scholastic season, and most recently a bronze-medal finish in the boys varsity eight at the 2018 USRowing Youth National Championships.”
