Montclair Kids Will Rock On 9/11 To Benefit Montclair Ambulance Unit

On Saturday, September 11, students from The School of Rock Montclair will present a concert at Just Jake's entitled "Keep On Rockin' In The Free World." All proceeds from the show will benefit the Montclair Ambulance Unit (MVAU).

The 19 musicians who will be on stage for "Keep On Rockin' In The Free World" range in age from 10 to 15 years old, and all participate in The School of Rock's Performance program, which combines private instruction and group rehearsals. The youngsters will present a repertoire of inspiring and energetic rock anthems by such artists as The Who, Led Zeppelin, Joan Jett, U2, Neil Young, and Green Day.

"We wanted to turn our first show of the fall season into an event that would pay homage to the men and women who risked everything to rush to Ground Zero nine years ago," explained Matt Sadowski, owner of School of Rock Montclair. "The Montclair Ambulance Unit was a natural choice for us as they provided crucial medical relief on 9/11, and continue to assist our community everyday. We're proud to help support such a worthy organization."

The Montclair Ambulance Unit is staffed by professionally trained Emergency Medical Technicians and has provided emergency medical services to Montclair for over 55 years. They answer over 3,000 calls per year, and have three fully equipped ambulances. Since their inception in 1953, the MVAU has handled over 175,000 rescues.

"This event is a wonderful opportunity for us to interact with some of the youngest members of our community," said James Simpson, chief of emergency medical services for the Montclair Ambulance Unit. "We are exceptionally grateful that the School of Rock considered MVAU when organizing this event and hope that everyone comes out to support the township's young musicians and the Montclair Ambulance Unit."

"Keep On Rockin' In The Free World" will be performed at Just Jake's, 30 Park Street, in Montclair at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 11 (doors will open at 4 p.m.). Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at The School of Rock Montclair, 125 Valley Road, 973-337-9224 or at Just Jake's on the day of the show. 100 percent of ticket proceeds will benefit the Montclair Ambulance Unit.
