Montclair Library Will Honor Black History Month 2017: Events
The programs will celebrate the achievements of African American's throughout history; all events are free.
From Montclair Public Library: Montclair Public Library has a variety of upcoming programs celebrating African American achievements throughout history, including:
Wednesday, February 1 at 7pm Don Miller’s “The King Mural” Saturday, February 4 at 2pm Lincoln Center Local: Free Screenings - Voices of a People’s History of the United States Monday, February 6 at 7pm Black National News Service – The Associated Negro Press: The Best Kept Secret of American Journalism History Saturday, February 11 at 10:30am Understanding Your Roots: African-American Genealogy & History Research Saturday, February 18 at 2pm African American Read-In Sunday, February 19 from 2 to 4pm Montclair NAACP's 100th Anniversary Celebration
The library’s Adult School Department also offers Black History Month classes and lectures. These programs are free for Montclair residents after paying a nominal annual fee. Classes this February include The Real Story of the Tuskegee Airmen, The Harlem Renaissance: Courage, Grace and Vision, American Slavery, and Studio Museum of Harlem & The Apollo Theater.
