Montclair Mourns Beloved Philanthropist, Judy Weston

Montclair is mourning a beloved local philanthropist and fixture in the education community: Judy Weston.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair is mourning a beloved local philanthropist and fixture in the education community: Judy Weston.

Weston, who was a longtime resident in Montclair along with her husband, Josh Weston, died on Friday. She was 87.

According to her obituary published on obits.nj.com, Weston served for 10 years as a social worker at Jewish Vocational Services, as well as president of the Montclair Adult School. Together with her husband, she started a local teacher recognition program that continued for a quarter of a century, and which instilled pride in nearly 300 Montclair educators. The Westons funded and oversaw the Weston Science Scholars Program, which enabled deserving Montclair High School seniors to do laboratory work at Montclair State University. Weston also served on the boards of the American Museum of Natural History and the National Dance Institute.
