Montclair Obituary: Bruce Stransky, Track Star, Church Leader
The St. Luke's Episcopal church member served as president of the COPE Center in Montclair and was a Presby Iris Gardens supporter.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Bruce Lawrence Stransky, a Montclair church leader and supporter of the COPE Center and Presby Iris Gardens has passed away at the age of 70.

“Bruce Lawrence Stransky, 70, a New Jersey native, passed away on Monday, December 12 at St. Barnabas Hospital, Livingston, NJ.

“He grew up in Dunellen, NJ. Bruce enjoyed track and received several state awards. In 1964 he was awarded first place in the 440-yard dash in the New Jersey state Athletic Championship. Bruce was a graduate of Utah State University where he attended on a full track scholarship.
“Bruce has been an active and loyal member of St. Luke's Episcopal church, where he and his wife Sarah raised their two sons. Bruce was church treasurer, senior warden and a chairman of the capital campaign to replace the organ.

“Bruce was a past president of the COPE Center in Montclair, NJ. He was a member of the citizen committee of the Presby Iris garden. He coached his son’s soccer teams, loved to travel and enjoyed visits with his children and grandchildren.
“For many years Bruce was fulfilled as a Sales Engineer for Quimby Equipment Inc., Plainfield, NY.
“Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sarah Shadle Stransky, their two sons Stewart, Frank, and their children and families, his sister Linda DiStefano and her family.
“Contributions can be made in his name to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or COPE Center of Montclair.”
