Montclair PD: Victim 'Jumped' In Park, Robbery On Bloomfield Ave

Montclair Police: A robbery was reported on Bloomfield Avenue. A victim was allegedly "jumped" in Nishuane Park.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A robbery and an assault were recently reported in Montclair in the same week, police announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, a robbery took place on Bloomfield Avenue near Maple Avenue on Dec. 23.

The two juvenile victims said a group of six people approached them from behind as they were walking east on Bloomfield Avenue and demanded they hand over their belongings. The victims said one of the people claimed he had a weapon, although it was never shown.

The group fled the scene after taking an orange bag containing sunglasses from one of the victims, police said.

The victims described one of the suspects as a juvenile male from 5 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches, wearing a dark jacket and dark pants with tears in the thighs. Descriptions of the other suspects weren’t available.

NISHUANE PARK

In a separate incident, a victim said he was “jumped” in Nishuane Park around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 30, authorities stated.

The victim told police he was assaulted by a group of five people inside the park.

The victim described two of his attackers as men from 20 to 21-years-old, about 185 pounds and from 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches. He described a third suspect as a man from 20 to 21-years-old, about 210 to 215 pounds and about 5 feet 10 inches.

The victim sought medical attention on his own for injuries to his face, Montclair police said.
